Can I take my service animal with me on a commercial airplane?

Yes, FAA regulation mandates airlines to permit dogs and other service animals used by persons with a disability to accompany the persons on a flight.

Evidence of the animal being utilized as a service animal must be presented. This evidence may include:

          • Service animal identification card
          • Other written documentation
          • Presence of harnesses or markings on harnesses or tags
          • Credible verbal assurances of the qualified individual with a disability using the animal

The service animal may not obstruct an aisle or other area that must remain clear in the event of an emergency. We recommend that you notify your airline and inquire about specific policies well in advance of your flight.
